Vacation in Alentejo
Between the Algarve and the river Tagus, the Alentejo area is a vast open countryside with undulating plains
and rich fertile soil. With very few exceptions all the major towns are mainly reliant on agriculture, livestock and wood. Typical products
from this area are grain, sunflower, carthame, fruit, vegetables, olives, wines, cork, eucalyptus, lamb, pigs, kid, granite, schist and marble.
This richness of produce has been taken from the land for thousands of years as visitors may encounter throughout most of the region signs of human
existence from thousands of years ago.
The Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park (Costa Vicentina) covers the coastline in the municipalities of Sines, Odemira, Aljezur and Vila do Bispo. This natural park has spectacular views over the seashore with cliffs hiding wonderful sandy beaches and estuaries.

Costa de Lisboa extends along the coastline, starting north of Lisbon at the beach town of Ericeira and then extends inland
to the east to the town of Abrantes. It then heads south following the bank of the River Tagus (Rio Tejo) down to the town of Vila Franca de Xira.
Moving to the southern bank of the river it cuts across country, southwards, in the direction of Vendas Novas. Continuing further southwards it takes
in Alcácer do Sal and Grândola before going west and joining up with the coast on the sandy beaches of Porto Covo.
There are many towns within this area apart from the City of Lisbon. From the visitors point of view the main ones are Cascais, Estoril, Mafra,

Costa da Prata (Silver Coast) is a long coastline, consists of long and beautiful sandy beaches, like Nazaré, Praia do Salgado, Figueira da Foz, Sao Martinho do Porto, Foz do Arelho, Sao Pedro de Muel, Aveiro, etc.
